It's been a while

FIRST AND FOREMOST:
???SHOULD I CONTINUE BLOGSPOT OR MOVE TO TUMBLR ???

Hello, It's been a while I have been busy with my corporate foreign international travel agent job. Luckily it's from home so when I get off of work I've started a painting routine and it feels great. I was in an art rut for a while but meanwhile I started making music, writing stories, instant film photography, sewing, and basically all things art related.

On another note i'll explain my drawings in order from top to bottom.
One and Two are only thumbnails and nothing final. They were from a scene I was inspired by for Tim Burton's newest film. I just wanted to play with the "swimming in an abandoned ship and breathe underwater" thing. Illustration 3 is actually a warm up I did the day before One and Two. I blew the dust off of my cintiq for good old fashioned stress relief. It was to help me play with brushes and styles for a story i'm writing which has nothing to do with the drawing itself. The final one is once again for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, like One and Two, this one was done because I loved the concept of Olive's boots keeping her grounded so that she would sink down to her ship or keep her from floating away. Also being stuck in the past and immortal. All fun ideas that were floating in my head and I had to get out and post mistakes and all.
Something is lovely about raw work.

Sketch Portrait

Played around with style this morning. Not 100% satisfied with it but I didn't feel like continuing.

Digital

The first post is a copy of a piece by Keiko (Cake-o.blogspot.com) and it was to help me warm up and get ready to digitally paint for the first time in two months but my Emma Roberts drawing is much better than what I was doing two months ago!

Animation

I've studied animation and art in general for 5 years now and I never really tried to animate but I guess it's really easy? Who knew right? Too bad I got to art school for Illustration.

Beetlejuice

I saw that Shiyoon Kim was cutting it back on his line work to develop his colors with film studies. film studies and color have always been my favorite so i'm going to cut back on my line work and practice on my color. Shiyoon has me beat though, of course.

Confession

Yesterday I ran across a 16 year old artist who was completely amazing and had me feeling really insecure because i'm a freshman in college and everyone was admiring her and I was jealous. I curled into a ball and was asking for answers. Nothing came but I calmed down. The next day my painting teacher said she saw my tweets and that I am really good and ONLY a freshman in college and that the said girl may only be good with one thing where I am with several. I got back from class and saw that a friend of mine had an assignment to recreate a piece of art digitally. Hers was amazing. I decided to copy her idea of using a Leyendecker piece. It's my first time trying something not cartoony. It's not finished, but in my defense it's 1 am and i'm pretty proud of what I got done. I feel less insecure. Also Hayley's was better than mine but i'm happy for her and not jealous. I need to invest in a Cintiq because shitty bamboo tablets are shitty.

Art from my Instagram

I did like a 10 minute film study on Monsters University. Painting in my little red sketchbook is pretty much my favorite thing. I don't worry about if my work looks like someone else's and if my lines are clean. Watercolors and ink do what they want.

goodnight

After my last post I felt like I hadn't learned enough so I dropped my insecurities and just drew at 1 am-2am. I didn't think "This needs to looks more Lorelay Bove/Brittney Lee." I just drew. The end result looks like Victoria Ying haha! Just an hour practice though!

Slowly but surely

Still trying to learn digital art. I want to learn a lot more before I go to college in August!

Phony

I was inspired by Brittney Lee for the millionth time and mimicked the cover to her book coming out. I'm slowly getting the hang of digital art. I had a lot of fun making this. One I start college in the fall I am forcing myself to not mimic anymore.

Moonrise Kingdom

My Moonrise Kingdom gouache painting didn't turn out how I thought it would. It was nice enough for a blogpost though! I think it's pretty good coming from  a 17 year old.The scanner also cropped out a part on the right. There was more of the blue window!

The Stages

I drew for over 9 hours today and I hated everything I drew. So when I started to draw something on how much I hate digital drawing I made something I loved, haha. Digital drawing is the hardest thing for me. I just want to be good at it.

Improvement

I thought it'd be cool to show how much I've improved. There is only a three month and one day difference. I surprised myself. Except.... I forgot a leg
